My login password is quite often not recognised, and I have to change it to get it working again. Then it works for some time, and stops working again when I switch the computer next morning. I know I didn't use the wrong one because I write it down. Any explanations?

This is a Mac OS X issue... What OS X version?
The version is 10.11.6. It is a Mac OS X El Capitan. If it is a Mac OS X issue, how to solve it? Do I need to bring back the computer?

It seems our gracious Hosts did not take my recommendation of "El Cap" and chose instead to move this to (your product info) Macbook Air ! -- I generally route things differently... HARDWARE issue to the particular Mac forum and SOFTWARE issue (login TO > OS X is software, isn't it?)
It will probably be fine... "bump" this after a reasonable amount of time on "Football Day in America"
